Is This Guy Interested in Me?

Dear Ms. HeartBeat:
I’m 30 years old and single. A guy who lives in my building and I got to chatting and I told him I returned recently from vacation. Later in the conversation he said, “let me know when your next trip is, I want to come! I’m really good at carrying suitcases!”

Was he flirting with me or was that a joke? This guy is really cute and I don’t want to make an ass of myself by slipping him my number, I see this guy every day.

Signed,
Inexperienced

Dear Inexperienced:
He’s flirting but that doesn’t mean he wants a committed relationship. He is definitely interested in hooking up, which is what offering to go on a vacation with a woman overnight that you don’t know would indicate.

Be careful dating guys that live where you live. In the event things don’t work out with him and you start dating someone else, the situation could be very awkward. Sometimes people don’t control their jealousy well… there could be rudeness, violence and police intervention required.

And no, you don’t slip him your number. What are we, 12 years old here? If he wanted your number he would ask for it like a big boy, so slow your roll so you don’t come off as desperate. Let him do the work to get to know you if he wants to. But I’m thinking he may have the same reservations I stated above about dating someone where he lives.

It’s even worst than dating someone at work, which is a whole ‘nother post!
