Why Do Women Insist Men Remember Dates of Everything?

Dear Ms. HeartBeat:
I am sorry, I am sure that there is a logic reason for this but I cannot understand it. Why is it important to remember what a woman was wearing when we go on a date? The first time we kissed, the first time we met, the first time we went on a date? Why is remembering all these dates and all these outfits important? Why not spend the time creating new memories?

Signed,
Confused Dude

Dear Dude:
The first time you met is a very romantic thing and it means a lot to women if they fall in love with you. Otherwise, they curse that day forevermore.

You don’t need to remember outfits except what she was wearing the first time you laid eyes on her, the first time you went out on a date and the day you proposed. This is important because you will be expected to tell your sons and daughters this information along with how you felt at that moment 20, 30, 50 years from now.

Certainly you will create more memories! This is not an “either/or” thing – it is an “and” thing. Stop being lazy.  The memories serve you just as well as they do her, its just that most men don’t understand that until they are much older.

You should strive as a couple to make fabulous new memories, as many as possible. But don’t you ever forget her birthday, your anniversary date, the day your children were born and their ages, and how many years you have been together both before and after marriage.

If you are not sure you’ll be able to remember what she wore, take a picture with your cell phone camera and store it on a file on your computer, then get a hard copy printed out for a scrapbook. That way you can look at it frequently and there is NO WAY you won’t remember.

If you cannot remember dates, input them in your Smartphone calendar with a “recurring” schedule, so that it pops you up a reminder every year. There is no excuse not to remember things important to someone you claim to love except sheer laziness.
