Camp Lo

I'm familiar with the majority of what you mentioned but to this day I will pump Camp lo like it's brand new music.

The common sense song you mentioned is a classic. I still bump that people are like damm who was that?

Common has got to be one of the most overlooked, underrated rappers out here.  Now maybe that Electric Circus album wasn't all that great, but he is definitely on top of it.  Too bad it took having to team up with Kanye to even bring him to the forefront after having been around all these years.  Undecided

I bump hip-hop from the 80s & 90s all the time.. I was rockin "The Questions" Common feat Mos Def this week! Hell, I was rockin "Raising Hell" by the Gods of Hip-Hop Run DMC this morning driving into work!!

Mofos have no clue what half the music is -  Huh

II, you right about Camp Lo. You can still bump "Luchini", "Cooley High", & "Black Nostaljack" . Too me, Camp Lo was one of the most polished groups in Hip-hop history. Totally unique just like Das Efx, Boot Camp, Heiroglyphics, etc.

A lot of folx started listening to hip-hop once it really started becoming commercialized in the late 80s early 90s tho.

I was listening to the 2 Live Stews yesterday & they were talking about the top 5 groups of all time in Hip-Hop.

They're list was

1> Run-DMC
2> NWA
3> Outkast
4> 8-Ball & MJG
5> A Tribe Called Quest

Ahh... they were close... Personally, I wouldn't put Outkast in the top 5 because they didn't seem to have the impact other groups did IMHO. They also had them there cause they claimed Outkast put the south on the map.

UH WHAT? Have they ever heard of The Geto Boys & UGK??

My top 5..

1> Run DMC - The trailblazers who opened the door for everyone in the game
2> NWA - Changed the game. It hasn't been the same since "Str8 outta Compton!"
3> Public Enemy - The pinnacle of conscious hip-hop
4> A Tribe Called Quest - Low End Theory & Midnight Marauders. nuth'n else has 2 b said
5> Wu-Tang Clan - greatest collection of MCs in one group eva.

Honorable Mentions:

Outkast, BDP, Eric B. & Rakim, The Roots, Gangstarr, EPMD, etc....

Now how'd we go from conscious lyrics from the groups from back in the day to some mess about 'Chicken noodle Soup'?  Or white-tees?  Or 'do your chains hang low, do they wobble to the flo'?  True hip-hop is going down the toilet, and fast.  Cry

It is my understanding that 'Chicken Noodle Soup' is just one of those silly little songs the kids have fun with and do a silly chicken noodle soup dance to.  At least they're not a talking about bitches, hoes, guns and what not...

Awwww maaaaaan.........you got some real good ones on this list for sure!!!   Grin  Just like you Informed, I still bump Camp Lo!  Do ya'll remember when Jay-Z was with Fu-Schnickens?  Dang, that was waaayyyy back when (I'm feeling ancient here!)  And I am still feeling Bahamadia (Uknowhowwedu was my fave!!) to this day.  We need more female emcees who don't feel like taking off their clothes is the way to fame.  I used to bump KRS-One, De La Soul and Arrested Development too.

Bahamadia-Uknowhowwedu

I'm bumping Nujabes now though, some Talib Kweli too.  For real, hip-hop has lost its shine.  I used to love h.e.r.  Sad

Oops, sorry.  Jay-Z, I remember Jay-Z was on Jaz-O's song "Hawaiian Sophie."  But Fu-Schnickens was still tight though.
