...I was rockin "Raising Hell" by the Gods of Hip-Hop Run DMC this morning driving into work!!
Did you just call them the "Gods of Hip Hop"?

Man I think only cats from the Bronx (where it all began) can brand someone a God of Hip Hop bruh. Cats from the Bronx never gave them Queens cats THAT MUCH props. Don't get me wrong, I respect what Run and them brought to the game. But "Gods"? Whoa! I agree they did open doors so the title of 'Ambassadors of Hip Hop' would probably be more fitting.
I'd also have to take issue with your top 5. RUN-DMC??? Only one group deserves the number one spot (your number 2 contributed to the destruction of the garbage we now hear on the radio):
Boogie Down Productions. Not only were they musically and lyrically ahead of their time but their evolvement from gangsta rappers to conscious teachers and the (symbolic) cruxifiction of Scott LaRock so that the ignorance could die and be resurrected in the Teacha (KRS-One) and conscious movement that followed represented the true essence of Hip Hop culture.
In my old age, i look at Hip hop from a cultural perspective instead of an economic or entertainment one. I'll give you mad props for your shot out of the Roots. Or else I'd have to start a petition to get you moved off these boards - lol
Good thread Bruh!
