Ya know, after today I realized that I was wrong ...

Wrong for accepting an assignment doing direct client support in a customer service-type environment.

Wrong for thinking that professional Black folk would conduct themselves like professional black folk on the job!   Roll Eyes  Lemme tell ya about my day...

We recently received our huge supply order of half a million dollars in inventory that we are now distributing to those that requested specific items.  One person came to my desk because an order she had placed a month ago is not in.  Well, she didn't want to hear it as I tried to help her - especially since the actual request had never come to our office - was stuck in the approval chain, over which we have no control or visibility.

Anyway, while standing in the doorway of my office area, she proceeded to get loud and ghettoized (neck rollin and all) - easily heard throughout that part of the office.  She went on for about 2 minutes before I stood up, came really close to her and said quiet enough that only she could hear...

"if you don't get away from my door acting a fool like this, it's gonna take the entire office of security to get me offa your azz"

Hmmm... I forgot all about the tenet of "the customer is always right"

Sounds like she got exactly what she needed from you, Sheel, acting an ignorant fool like that.  Roll Eyes   She needs to leave her ghetto ways at the door once she steps inside the workplace.  What was her response?

LOL, Keba!  She was shocked... you see, I have a very soft, even voice - and I think it shocked her when I did that - especially since she knew that no one heard it so she couldn't prove anything... And I smiled after I said it - so there was no indication on the surface that I had just said that...

She kinda bucked her eyes and just walked away... in silence

Mz Sheel is scary.  She look all soft and sweet, like butter wouldn't melt in her mouth.  Then her head rotates like The Exorcist chick, and she rips you a new one.  Then it rotates back and she is grinnin again.

That shit is scarier than just having someone try to do a drive by!  At least with a drive-by you know when to duck!!!!!!

Sorry I ducked out for a bit on y'all.  Since I am on a gov't site, I don't access this site during the weekday because the meta tags have s-e-x in it - a red flag.

Thanks for the well wishes, and yes, things are going well!  As a matter of fact, my govt client sent an unsolicited note to my company last week commenting on my performance and is giving us an opportunity to bring in a couple more people in the next 30 days!  GROWTH!  YAY

My former job (owners of company) are still pissed at me and hardly speaking, but that's not my issue.

So... how do YOU all know when it's time to go?  What are your personal signs that your job has run its course and it's time to seek greener pastures?
