UPDATE:  I got TIRED of doing this, so after 5 years with the company, I put out a couple feelers in the industry to say I "might" be looking... met with a new client and today received a hella offer, complete with signing bonus... I will be submitting my resignation on Friday (doing the happy dance)
Good for you MzSheel... there is nothing worse than feeling stuck in a place you don't belong. Sometimes, you just know when it's time to go...

Oh shoot, I just looked at the date.. lol... dang, it's been over a year now.... so how are you liking your "new job?"  Wink

LOL, Ndigo!  Thanks!  Things have significantly progressed and it was a very good move for me to move when I did.  My former company owners are pissed at me STILL because after I left, several of my staff followed suit, then my clients began acting up and two didn't renew their contracts.  I didn't intend those consequences, but after they behaved so badly after I submitted my resignation, I wasn't sad to see it happening.

My new job is fantastic (except the commute).  They have offered to let me telecommute 2-3 days a week, so I only make the trip when I have something definitive things to do at the office.  I am doing what I love - setting policy, training others, etc.  I received my first signing bonus when I joined them, and when our company was purchased by another company last year, received a letter committing to a significant bonus if I stay with them for at least a year (right before this Xmas).  I'm doing half the work that I was doing at the other company, and making much more money and earning bonuses for the extra things I do.  Even more important than the money, I am treated with respect and my opinion is valued - so I enjoy going to work... can't get much betta than that for me!

Thanks for asking... how're you?!

Congrats!!!  It's nice to hear when people enjoy what they do.  I think life is too short to be somewhere that makes you unhappy.

Congrats Mzsheel,
I'm coming in late to this story, but never too late to offer my well wishes.  It sounds like this move has worked out well.  You've more than paid your dues, now it's time to reap the benefits.
You're a sharp lady from what I've read of your posts so I'm not surprised.
Best!!

... can't get much betta than that for me!
MzSheel you got the ultimate hook-up. There's not much better ... Hold on, wait a sec... the only thing better would be if they let you retire within 5 years WITH a full pension and healthcare benefits.

I can't remember which job I was on last... but anyway... I have a "new" job... Been there for 9 months now... I'll probably stay on for as long as they let me. We recently got bought out by an annoying media-type mongrel. So heads have been rolling... there's blood splatter on the walls, people are gripping the egde of their office doors, trying to sink their nails into the woodwork... but the new owner doesn't care... when the grim reaper appears from corporate... it's just time to go. And I don't know why people are fighting so hard... They're getting a year's severance... C'mon now -- I say TAKE IT -- Offer to pay me for a year and see what happens!  Grin

But I do kinda understand... this was a very old, established, well respected company... there's no "up" to go to... only down... One thing that attracted me to this company was the longevity of many of it's employees.... my boss has been there for 42 years, many others are there for 20, 30 years... I figured, I'd get to stay a good 25 and go part-time sooner rather than later... AND this company used to give out pensions too... "Used to" is the operative word now. New company doesn't play that... as a matter of fact, once the new company fully integrates... we only get 6 weeks severance tops and no pension. So I tell people to get out with a few perks while they can.  One odd thing we do get plenty of is vacation time. - I already get 4 weeks and a day plus unlimited sick days...YAY!!! And that's probably because we're a union shop... but not that that really matters in a Right to Work State like Florida but we do get the same benefits as all the other union members. But even our union is getting posed to be taken over by another larger guild... I dunno...

All I can really say is that I still have a job. MzSheel - you still loving yours?
