The bottom line is why are BLACK folks so quick to want to include bits and pieces of some Caucasian in their lineage?  WTF IS THAT?  So you want to denounce the rich heritage of your African or West Indian ancestry and point with pride that your family is part French Irish or whatthefuckeva?

I never see WHITE LOOKING folks with Black blood in their veins running around pointing with pride to the fact that they are PART BLACK!  Oh no!  They only do it when its convenient, like to get a set aside scholorship for being part of a minority group.  OR when they want their record to go Platinum and want to be accepted by the African American community.  Damn, white folks are even doing DNA tests now to see if they have enough Native American in their lineage to qualify to get a chunk of the Indian casino income or entry into college.

So no matter what you all who don't want to say you are Black say about this topic, being Black isn't popular.  And for that reason you all would rather dilute or totally negate that aspect of your existence in favor of whatever NON-Black heritage you can claim.   And then you get upset when folks like me call you out on it and laugh at your confusion.  So don't get mad, get over it and get a life!  You can use 1000000 words to try to justify your weak position, but in the end you are still Black and that is all there is to it.

Its not about WANTING to give it top billing or anything...its about facing all the FACTS of ones ancestry, and not living a LIE in order to be PC or make anyone else feel more comfortable.
As far as I am concerned, having EURO TRASH close in my background in nothing to take PRIDE in, so I dont EVER EVER volunteer that info to anyone in RL, unless a discussion happens to veer in that direction, and I'd have to LIE if I didn't admit to it.  I'd actually feel SHAME in having White ancestry, if not for the fact that I believe folks should never be ashamed of anything that was beyond their control to decide or prevent.  NONE of us had any say in picking our parental lineage.

I strongly believe that embracing TRUTH(whatever that truth may be) is the best way for us all to find true emancipation.

Ok, Imma address this because it's a really complex issue. I mean, you have to realize that being black in america is like being Neo in the matrix. You have the real world & the "fake real" world (ie the matrix).

I have a lot of native american lineage & probably some european lineage as well. However, I call myself black & African-American. Now, for people like Hallie & Tiger, they're correct to recognize their IMMEDIATE paternal/maternal lineage. Besides, Hallie openly speaks on her blackness & Tiger never tries to deny his.

Now here's where we agee. Black folx who are on some "I'm Native American" because their great grandmother was 1/4 native american but both their parents are "black" are on some bullshyt. I think everyone will agree to that.

Of course, because white folx are racist. However, if they could get minority grants, scholarships, etc they'll try that too! Racism isn't gonna stop folx from taking advantage of opportunities for their benefit. Ask Strom Thurmond!!

You gotta seperate folx w/ black parents on some bullshyt from people who actually come from a black & other relationship. Also, too be fair, we have to consider the socipolitical categorization of "bi-racial" at a time when the white population is shrinking. ( no different than categorizing some latinos as white ). We understand why it's happening but the reasoning behind it is more sound the "one-drop" rule. You gotta look at it in context.

You gotta also realize that white supremacist construction of race is flawed. The one drop rule is some racist shyt that white folx created to seperate white folx w/ tainted blood versus white folx w/ pure blood.  Do you believe that black blood taints white folx blood thus making them black? If you do, maybe you should get yourself a membership over at stormfront. - LOL

You gotta be able to understand that racist construction, know that it's flawed, & be willing to see race thru a different prism. Again, it's really a sociopoltical construct, not exact science.

I agree with Ms. Heartbeat.  There is no such thing as a MULATTO or MULATTA in America.  That's a term in the Latin American or Brazilian world but biracial babies here in America are considered black!

I have a "biracial" child and to me he is exactly that. A mix of his white mother and black father, period. He can identify with both cultures when he gets older and I don't feel in ANY way that I have "tainted" his fathers family line. I have met in my life Blonde haired, blue eyed mixed children. I have met black folks that were lighter than me. so there is nothin mysterious about a biracial child. They are a mix of there mom and dad black and white, asian and black, latino and black or what ever races decide to mix.

But the term "biracial" tells you nothing about the races, ethnicity's or cultures involved. It's still a mystery what the person is talking about. You are still going to have to pull the convo back to "black and white" and relate it back to one color or another.

For clarification purposes, my family sticks with one term, "black".... anything else can be added in from there on a as needed basis. That's what seems to work best for us.

Besides, being black is what we consider ourselves at the core. It absorbs all other races, cultures and ethnicity's... I have cousins, nieces, nephews from all over the globe ranging in hues from lightest white and darkest blue black... and everything in between... with a whole lot of different racial and ethnic combos... but being black is at it's core... so far, I haven't heard any complaints or murmurings about needing a separate identity carved out.
