May is National High Blood Pressure Awareness Month.

Since I work at a fitness center, I proposed that we do blood pressure screenings for the members this month.  One of the other trainers heard me talking to our service desk assistant about it.  I explained how important it is to know if you have hypertension or not, as it is called The Silent Killer and how it can contribute to strokes and heart attacks.  I added how prevalent it is amongst African Americans and how research has not been able to say with any certainty why that is.

Goofy white girl pipes up and says "it's probably because they eat all that fried chicken."

WTF?

Smile gone, I look her in the eye and say "No, that's not it.  It's actually due to the stress of dealing with STUPID ASS WHITE PEOPLE!"

The other white folks started laughing at her - stupid Fuzzy Zoeller beyatch!  She at least had the decency to get red, then she ran her ass over to the computer so she didn't have to look at me again.

Now what would make her think that was an appropriate thing to say?  Wild.

That's right Ms HB,
Sometimes you have to put those smart mouth whiteys in check!  How is she running off at the mouth like that.
My father died of a heart attack at 50, he suffered from high blood pressure all of his life, however he was a thin man.  He weighed less than 150 lbs.  However he was on some heavy psychosis medicines do to his times on the tail end of Vietnam and the things they put a black man through in the navy in the 60's.  Back then, no telling what the adverse effects of those heavy meds did to the rest of his organs.

He did like to eat 3 eggs over easy for breakfast every morning though.  I get my cholesterol and bp checked every year, and make sure the good C is higher than the bad C.
Thanks for the tip.

Yup, he liked his 3 eggs over easy and I got to be a perfectionist at making them.  When I eat eggs, I only eat the egg whites.
