A Black History Life

« on: September 23, 2009, 10:32:25 PM »

Alright fam, I miss y'all and life on the internet has changed. Unfortunately message boards of the intellectual quality that we had 4 and 5 years ago are no longer in vogue. All change is not progress, and though I don't think Facebook is progress from an intellectual aspect, I do acknowledge that it is progress from the communication aspect.

I miss how our message board used to be. But, enough people just don't have the time or fortitude to engage in the extraordinarily thought-provoking, intellectually edifying, familial relationship building discussions that we were accustomed to on this site.

I don't believe it can ever be as it was before. Not because we don't desire it, but because the internet has changed. And Cross Damon, The Shepherd must adapt to it. In the immortal words of Bruce Lee -
Be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water my friend.

This is me, this is all me!

If you decide to add me as a friend, make sure you send me a message so that I know who you are. I hope to hear from mostly all of the old gang, whether we once got along or not. Bygones! I'm still the same Cross Damon, still the same Shepherd. Hell, I stayed up arguing with two cats through the Monday Night football game and until 1 am the other night. Nothing's changed with me, I just don't get to philosophize online like I use to. But we can all be friends now. See you on Facebook, and I'm still going to be on Askheartbeat when I can. This is HOME!!!

Well...well...well... look what the sheep dragged in.  Cheesy  What a nice picture Shep, very handsome.  Look if you've got time to facebook, you've got time to 'forum.  Wink  I don't facebook or tweet/twitter or whatever you want to call it.  I got a cell phone back in 2002. I just got a text plan earlier this year under duress.  (I hate texting, I'd rather use my fingers to dabble on the keyboards of a piano, not a cell phone pad), but alas, I had to give in to my niece (I have a hard time saying no to them).  But she better not ask me to follow her on tweety bird

I refuse to get deeper into cyberspace if I can help it.  I'm fighting it.  If I won't join facebook to check out my own sister's site, I'm not joining for the Shep, so you'll just have to stop by and visit 'home' as you say more often.  Don't stay away so long we miss you.

Thank you, Devineone. I used to be handsome, but something about marriage and all that premium ice cream I eat has worn some of that handsomeness off. LOL

Well, maybe me and your sis will have to work on you some more. But, you are correct, if I have time to Facebook, then I need to bring my ass home more often. Since you mentioned it, I got something that I read in the New Yorker that I'd like to share and discuss.

Thanks!!!

Very cool, Shep!  Nice to "meet" ya (after all these years)   Wink

I'm on there too but primarily use it for family contacts and about 4-5 personal friends (yeah, even "Crown" and "Osiris" are FB friends!  LOL)

I'm a little gun-shy (after MrSincere) in opening myself up to those that don't already know me, but it is great seeing you here from time to time too... especially since I don't swing by as often as I perhaps should.

Shell, it's all good. If you get comfortable enough with me, just send me a friend request. My page is wide open anyway, so you can always check and see what's up with me there. I'm going to look for old Crown, and see if I can catch my old comrade Osiris.

Kimora, just added you, boo! You know this made my day. I've always beed fond of you!

Shep,

You have been such a mystery for so many years, it is weird to finally put a face to the personality. LOL!  Grin
